Ecodesign Directive - New labeling for lamps and luminaires
Quickly identify eco-friendly and energy-saving products according to eco-design requirements
According to the new Energy Labeling Regulation (EU) 2019/2015 (Energy Labeling Regulation: ELR for short), lamps, LED modules and luminaires from which the light source cannot be removed without destroying them will have a new energy efficiency label from September 2021. Due to the increasingly efficient light sources, the scale is set back to A to G. One of the main objectives of the new regulation is to provide the customer/end-user with the information they need to make energy-efficient product choices. Therefore, the regulation primarily stipulates that specific product information must be provided via a consumer-friendly energy label. Manufacturers must also provide information about the class of the product and other relevant technical information.
Old energy label
New energy label
Transitional period of 18 months
Both versions will be available in stores by March 2023. Only then must all light sources bear the new label. The relabeling can take place during the transition period of 18 months.
