Wired LEDs
Wired LEDs are among the most well-known and oldest LED designs. Gradually, smaller and larger variants joined the classic 5 mm models; such as 3 mm, 10 mm or SuperFlux (also called Piranha). The advantage of wired LEDs is that this type of LED already has built-in optics and the light can therefore be focused in a specific direction. And the thin wire legs are particularly easy to solder manually. In contrast to SMD LEDs and COBs, however, these original light-emitting diodes have a very low lumen value and are mainly used in handicrafts and model making.
